David is the Managing Director, Retirement Plan Consulting of the Hawaii office, which has been recognized by the National Association of Plan Advisors as a Top DC Advisor Team.
David is among seven voting members of SageView’s national Investment Committee and is a member of its Asset Allocation and Asset-Liability subcommittees. His significant contributions to SageView’s investment efforts have been recognized with internal awards for “Highest IQ” and “Most Collaborative.”
David has over 30 years of experience consulting for corporate and not-for-profit clientele. His expertise includes investment strategy and policy, asset management, fiduciary governance, defined contribution plan design, and defined benefit risk management. He is the only Hawaii advisor recognized by Financial Times as among the nation’s top retirement advisors serving the large defined contribution plan market in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
David is considered a go-to resource among Hawaii plan sponsors and has been recognized at the national level. David has extensive experience as a speaker on a range of topics, including retirement plan design, participant education strategy, capital markets and ERISA fiduciary matters. He has been featured as a speaker at local events for Hawaii Tax Institute, SHRM, APA, ISCEBS, and Hawaii Employers Council events including Managing Employee Benefits During Uncertain Times in 2020 and Top 10 Questions 401(k) and 403(b) Plan Sponsors Should Ask in 2017. David was also a featured lecturer at The Plan Sponsor University event held at Hawaii Pacific University in 2019. He spoke on the topic of applying behavioral economics to investment choice architecture. In 2018, David authored a whitepaper, Fiduciary Evaluation of Target-Date Conflicts of Interest, published and featured on NAPA-NET. Having earned a BBA in Finance from the University of Hawaii, David also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA) certification.
David is an active volunteer in the Hawaii community. He is a long-time board member and past president of Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation.
